The local health officer shall:

1. 1. Investigate, or have investigated, each case as filed with the local health officer in pursuance of the law, and any other cases which may come to his or her attention.
2. 2. Report all cases of inflammation of the eyes of the newborn, and the result of all such investigations as the State Board of Health may direct.
3. 3. Conform to such other rules and regulations as the State Board of Health shall promulgate for his or her further guidance.
