Nev. Rev. Stat. § 442.003 – Definitions

As used in this chapter, unless the context requires otherwise:

1. “Advisory Board” means the Advisory Board on Maternal and Child Health.
2. “Department” means the Department of Human Services.
3. “Director” means the Director of the Department.
4. “Division” means the Division of Public and Behavioral Health of the Department.
5. “Fetal alcohol spectrum disorder” has the meaning ascribed to it in NRS 432B.0655.
6. “Freestanding birthing center” has the meaning ascribed to it in NRS 449.0065.
7. “Laboratory” has the meaning ascribed to it in NRS 652.040.
8. “Midwife” means:
1. (a) A person certified as:
  1. (1) A Certified Professional Midwife by the North American Registry of Midwives, or its successor organization; or
  2. (2) A Certified Nurse-Midwife by the American Midwifery Certification Board, or its successor organization; or
2. (b) Any other type of midwife.
9. “Provider of health care or other services” means:
1. (a) A clinical alcohol and drug counselor who is licensed, or an alcohol and drug counselor who is licensed or certified, pursuant to chapter 641C of NRS;
2. (b) A physician or a physician assistant who is licensed pursuant to chapter 630 or 633 of NRS and who practices in the area of obstetrics and gynecology, family practice, internal medicine, pediatrics or psychiatry;
3. (c) A licensed nurse;
4. (d) A licensed psychologist;
5. (e) A licensed marriage and family therapist;
6. (f) A licensed clinical professional counselor;
7. (g) A licensed social worker;
8. (h) A licensed dietitian; or
9. (i) The holder of a certificate of registration as a pharmacist.
