N.M. Stat. Ann. § 72-5A-12
A. A person who or governmental entity that is determined to be in violation of the Ground Water Storage and Recovery Act or a permit issued or rules adopted pursuant to the act may be assessed a civil penalty in an amount not exceeding:

The 2026 amendment, effective May 20, 2026, increased the maximum penalty for a violation of water law; in Subsection A, Paragraph A(1), after the paragraph designation, changed "one hundred dollars ($100)" to "three thousand four hundred dollars ($3,400)".
