N.M. Stat. Ann. § 29-7-6.1

The 2023 amendment, effective June 16, 2023, provided that county sheriffs are eligible to attend the academy and are eligible to receive certification; added a new Subsection A and redesignated former Subsections A through C as Subsections B through D, respectively.
Temporary provisions. — Laws 2023, ch. 86, § 15 provided that the rules of the New Mexico law enforcement academy board shall continue in effect until amended or repealed by the New Mexico law enforcement standards and training council or the law enforcement certification board, as applicable.
The 2015 amendment, effective July 1, 2015, provided for the reorganization of the department of public safety by amending language relating to training requirements for county sheriffs; in Subsection A, after "date", deleted "he" and added "the sheriff"; and in Subsection B, after "director", deleted "of the training and recruiting division of the department of public safety".
