1. A. Whenever required by any act of congress authorizing federal aid to education or any rules issued pursuant thereto:

   1. (1) the state superintendent [secretary] shall make reports with respect to expenditure of funds received and progress of education generally, progress of adult education generally or any other matters in the form and containing information required by the appropriate federal agencies; and
   2. (2) the state librarian shall make reports with respect to expenditure of funds received and progress of library service in the form and containing information required by the appropriate federal agencies.
2. B. Annually, by November 1, the state superintendent [secretary] shall submit to the legislative education study committee, the legislative finance committee and the library of the legislative council service a detailed report of all federal funds distributed to the state department of public education in the federal fiscal year ending September 30, one year prior to the date of the report, with a description of the purpose for which the state received the money and a detailed accounting of how the funds were expended.

Laws 2004, ch. 25, § 27, provided that all references to the superintendent of public instruction shall be deemed references to the secretary of public education and all references to the former state board of education or state department of education shall be deemed references to the public education department.
