N.M. Stat. Ann. § 17-3-16.6
The state game commission [state wildlife commission] shall adopt rules for the department of game and fish [department of wildlife] to issue enhancement authorization packages each license year for the taking of one each of elk, deer, oryx, ibex and pronghorn antelope. Each enhancement authorization package shall be auctioned by the department of game and fish [department of wildlife] or by an incorporated nonprofit organization dedicated to the conservation of wildlife and sold to the highest bidder. Money collected from the enhancement authorization packages shall be deposited in the game protection fund and shall be used exclusively for big game habitat enhancement, conservation and protection.

Laws 2025, ch. 9, § 11 provided that references in law to the state game commission shall be deemed to be references to the state wildlife commission.
Effective dates. — Laws 2007, ch. 243 contained no effective date provision, but, pursuant to N.M. Const., art. IV, § 23, was effective June 15, 2007, 90 days after the adjournment of the legislature.
