N.M. Stat. Ann. § 1-1-29
As used in the Election Code, "under color of law" means acting or purporting to act in the performance of official duties, under the authority of a statute, ordinance, regulation, proclamation or order of the United States or this state.

Effective dates. — Laws 2026, ch. 58 contained no effective date provision, but, pursuant to N.M. Const., art. IV, § 23, was effective May 20, 2026, 90 days after adjournment of the legislature.
