Competencies for educational assistants. The educational assistant shall understand and be able to:

1. A. assist licensed personnel in school environment;
2. B. provide assistance with individualized program materials;
3. C. assist licensed personnel with student discipline;
4. D. assist in maintaining students’ involvement in appropriate tasks;
5. E. assist with supplementary work for students and supervise independent study in the school environment;
6. F. respond to students as individuals;
7. G. help maintain cohesiveness in school environment;
8. H. display a desire to work with students;
9. I. serve as a role model;
10. J. work as a member of a team;
11. K. communicate effectively both verbally and in writing;

12. L. use current technology for instructional and management needs.
