To determine whether a prescribed burn has the potential to produce more than one ton of PM₁₀ emissions per day, use the emission factors listed below (adapted from AP-42) or any alternative method approved in writing by the department.

1. A. To calculate the quantity of PM₁₀ emissions in tons generated by a prescribed burn project or a wildfire, multiply the number of acres estimated to be burned:

   (1) by 0.04348 tons per acre for forest; and

   (2) by 0.02941 tons per acre for shrub land; and

   (3) by 0.01 tons per acre for grass land; and

   (4) by 0.01538 tons per acre for field crops.

2. B. For shrub and forest piles, multiply the number of cubic feet of piled material estimated to be burned by 0.0002 tons per cubic foot.
3. C. For all other prescribed burn projects or a wildfire uses that do not fall into the categories listed in this section, contact the department for assistance in determining a methodology to estimate emissions that is consistent with EPA methodologies.
