1. A. Based on the dimensions of a vehicle, combination or load or the route requested, the DOT may require that a route survey be conducted and submitted to the DOT prior to issuance of a special permit. When a route survey is required, it shall be carried in the permitted vehicle at all times during the move.
2. B. A route survey is valid for a period of fourteen days but is subject to change by the DOT at any time depending on circumstances, including inclement weather, highway construction, utility work, roadway design, and traffic patterns.
3. C. The DOT may extend the validity period of a route survey at its discretion for carriers engaged in moving the same dimensions or in moving similar loads where there are no structural clearance issues.
4. D. A route survey shall be in a written form approved by the DOT.
