No other drug or foreign substance designed for external use except as expressly provided in this rule or as directed by the physician, shall be used by any contestant while participating in an event contest. Under the conditions described herein, participants may use the following drugs or foreign substances designed for external use.

1. A. Petroleum jelly: Only discretional use of petroleum jelly [e.g. vaseline], and nothing else, will be allowed on the face, arms, or any other part of the contestant’s body. The excessive use of petroleum jelly is strictly prohibited and the referee shall direct that any excessive petroleum jelly be removed.

2. B. Adrenalin, thrombin, and avitine: In case a contestant sustains a cut or laceration, only the discretional, topical use of the following, or their generic equivalents as approved by the physician, shall be allowed to stop the bleeding:

   1. (1) a 1/1000 solution of adrenalin;
   2. (2) avitine; or
   3. (3) thrombin.
