Application Rejection

- (a) An application for an initial or vanity registration plate shall be evaluated by the department and rejected if the requested combination of characters does not conform with the requirements of Saf-C 513.62(c) or if it is currently in use.
(b) Upon rejection, the department shall:
- (1) Refund or credit the collected special vanity plate service fee to the applicant;
- (2) Notify the applicant of the reason(s) for the rejection; and
- (3) Issue a registration plate according to the class of vehicle and type of plate requested.
- (c) A person whose initial or vanity registration plate has been rejected may submit a written request to the director setting forth a detailed explanation as to the reasons why such an initial or vanity registration plate should be issued. The director's decision shall be final.
