Trailer Vehicle Identification Number

(a) An application for a state issued vehicle identification number for all trailers 3,000 pounds or less shall be submitted, in person to a substation or authorized municipal agent or, in person or by mail, to:

- (b) A vehicle identification number for all trailers that are 3,000 pounds or less shall be issued only after the vehicle identification number plate on the trailer has been examined by a law enforcement officer, a licensed motor vehicle dealer, or an authorized inspection station. For trailers greater than 3,000 pounds, a NH issued vehicle identification number (VIN) shall be required.
- (c) Upon being issued a trailer vehicle identification number, a person shall display the sticker in a permanent and prominent place on the trailer. At no time shall a person remove or deface the sticker or any other identifying number.
