Spar Buoys

(a) An operator of a vessel shall observe the following rules when encountering spar buoys on the public waters of the state:
(1) White buoy with black top means:
- a. When navigating on an east-to-west or west-to-east course go north; or
- b. When navigating on a north-to-south or south-to-north course go east;
(2) White buoy with red top means:
- a. When navigating on an east-to-west or west-to-east course go south; or
- b. When navigating on a north-to-south or south-to-north course go west;
- (3) An all black buoy means one has to travel between it and its companion all red buoy. The all black buoy is used together with the all red buoy to mark a well-defined channel; and
- (4) An all red buoy means one has to travel between it and its companion all black buoy. The all red buoy is used together with the all black buoy to mark a well-defined channel.
