1. (a) A vehicle shall be rejected for brake lining or pad wear if:

   1. (1) The vehicle has a gross vehicle weight rating of 10,000 pounds or less and bonded linings are less than 2/32 inch at their thinnest point;
   2. (2) The vehicle has a gross vehicle weight rating of 10,000 pounds or less and riveted linings are less than 2/32 inch above any rivet head at the thinnest point;

   3. (3) The vehicle has a gross vehicle weight rating in excess of 10,000 pounds and has:

      1. a. Air drum brakes that are less than 6/32 inch (3/16 inch) at the shoe center for a shoe with a continuous strip of lining;
      2. b. Air drum brakes that are less than 8/32 inch (1/4 inch) at the shoe center for a shoe with two pads;
      3. c. Air brakes that are less than 8/32 inch (1/4 inch) at the shoe center;
      4. d. Air drum brakes that are worn to the wear indicator if the lining is so marked;
      5. e. Air disc brakes that are less than 4/32 inch (1/8 inch);
      6. f. Hydraulic disc and drum brakes that are less than 2/32 inch (1/16 inch) measured at the shoe center; or
      7. g. Electric disc and drum brakes that are less than 2/32 inch (1/16 inch) measured at the shoe center; or
   4. (4) The wire in wire-backed linings is visible on the friction surface.

2. (b) A vehicle shall be rejected if the service brake chambers are:

   1. (1) Mismatched on any axle, or
   2. (2) Air chamber mounting devices are loose, broken, cracked or missing.
