Driver Education Program Eligibility

(a) All students shall be eligible for driver education provided that:
- (1) They are at least 15 years and 9 months of age, on or before the first regularly scheduled classroom session of the course in which they are enrolled; or
- (2) Their sixteenth birthday occurs on or before the last regularly scheduled classroom session of the course in which they are enrolled.
- (b) Instructors shall not meet the requirements of (a) by scheduling special sessions on or after a student’s birthday or withholding the completion certificate until the student’s birthday.
- (c) Students shall present proof of age in the form of an official birth certificate or valid passport.
- (d) Any student whose privilege to operate a motor vehicle is suspended or revoked shall not be permitted to enroll in a course until his or her privilege is restored.
- (e) Any student whose privilege to operate a motor vehicle is suspended or revoked while enrolled in a course shall not be permitted to continue the course. The student shall retake the entire course when his/her privilege is restored.
- (f) All students shall successfully pass a vision test. For the purposes of this rule, “successfully pass” means the student has a vision designation of 20/40 with both eyes and if legally blind in one eye, a vision designation of 20/30 in the other eye.
