1. (a) A person whose privilege to register any motor vehicle has been suspended or revoked pursuant to RSA 261:180, III may obtain a hardship registration by mailing or by providing in person at the registration section of the department the following:

   1. (1) The motor vehicle registration form(s) for the vehicle(s) that are subject to suspension;
   2. (2) The notice or a copy thereof, sent by the department, indicating that the person's registration privileges are scheduled to be revoked and that a hardship registration is available; and
   3. (3) The $10 fee, pursuant to RSA 261:180, IV, for each registration converted to a hardship registration.
2. (b) Upon receipt of the information set forth in (a) above, the department shall issue a hardship registration to the person.
