1. (a) In addition to the restrictions set forth in RSA 263:13 and Saf-C 1008, a restriction for air brakes shall be applicable to commercial drivers.

2. (b) Each applicant's commercial driver license shall indicate that the driver is restricted from driving a commercial motor vehicle equipped with air brakes in the following situations:

   1. (1) The applicant has failed the knowledge examination set forth in Saf-C 1805.01(b)(2); or
   2. (2) The applicant has not previously passed the road skills examination set forth in Saf-C 1806.01 in a vehicle equipped with air brakes.
3. (c) For the purposes of the road skills examination, brakes which operate fully or partially as air brakes shall satisfy the air brake requirement.
4. (d) If an applicant performs the skills test in a vehicle equipped with air over hydraulic brakes, that person shall be restricted from operating a CMV equipped with any braking system operating fully on the air brake principle.
