- (a) The first step at the entrance door shall be no less than 12 inches and no more than 16 inches from the ground.
- (b) The entrance door shall be equipped with either a two-stepwell or three-stepwell. Steps in each class shall be equal.
- (c) Steps on each school bus, except a type A school bus, shall be enclosed to prevent the accumulation of ice and snow.
- (d) Steps on each school bus, except a type A school bus, shall not protrude beyond the body side line.
- (e) Steps on each school bus, except a type A school bus, shall be metal with proper tread covering, as set forth in Saf-C 1308.28.
- (f) Handrails shall be designed so as to not snag clothing, book bags, or other items and shall be no less than 20 inches in length.
