- (a) The floor shall be constructed of metal equivalent in strength to 14 gauge steel and shall be constructed to prevent exhaust gases from entering the body of the school bus.
- (b) All seams shall be sealed with a waterproof sealer.
- (c) All closures between the school bus body and the engine compartment shall be fitted with gaskets in order to prevent exhaust gases from entering the passenger compartment.
- (d) The floor of the driver's compartment, stepwell, and toe-board areas, including the tops of the wheel-housing, shall be covered with a wear and fire resistant material.
- (e) The floor covering in the aisle, stepwell, and entrance area of each school bus shall be of non-skid fire resistant, rib-type material. Each school bus shall comply with the requirements of Saf-C 1308.17(c).
- (f) The floor covering shall not crack when subjected to a sudden temperature change and shall be securely bonded to the floor with a waterproof adhesive material, as recommended by the manufacturer of the floor covering.
