To qualify for initial state LSP certification, an individual shall be:
- (a) Certified by the International Board of Certified Lactation Consultant Examiners as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC);
- (b) Certified by the Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice (ALPP) as a certified lactation counselor (CLC);
- (c) Certified by the Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association (CAPPA) as a certified lactation educator (CLE); or
- (d) Certified as a certified breastfeeding educator (CBE) by Lactation Education Resources or Childbirth International.
