1. (a) A licensee may claim credit towards the continuing competence requirement for publication of an article in a professional journal.

2. (b) The licensee may claim no more than 10 contact hours per renewal cycle in accordance with the following:

   1. (1) For a peer-reviewed article:

      1. a. If the licensee was the sole or primary author, 6 contact hours; and
      2. b. If the licensee was a co-author or secondary author, 3 contact hours; and

   2. (2) For a non-peer reviewed article:

      1. a. If the licensee was the sole or primary author, 4 contact hours; and
      2. b. If the licensee was a co-author or secondary author, 2 contact hours.

3. (c) Documentation of a licensee’s publication of an article in a professional journal shall be:

   1. (1) A copy of:

      1. a. The publication or its title page showing the licensee’s authorship;
      2. b. The table of contents of the journal; and
      3. c. The publication date of the journal; or
   2. (2) If publication of the article is still in progress, the journal publisher’s letter of acceptance of the article with a copy of the article.
