1. (a) The appointing authority may authorize unpaid absences during the probationary period and when an employee runs out of paid leave.

2. (b) Authorized unpaid absences during a probationary period shall not, unless otherwise authorized by law, be counted toward:

   1. (1) Seniority date;
   2. (2) Completion of the probationary period;
   3. (3) Leave accrual; or
   4. (4) Increment date.
3. (c) An employee shall not be allowed to restore any unpaid absences that occur during the probationary period.

4. (d) Authorized unpaid absences during a probationary period when an employee transfers into a different position shall not, unless otherwise authorized by law, be counted toward:

   1. (1) Seniority date;
   2. (2) Completion of the probationary period;
   3. (3) Leave accrual; or
   4. (4) Increment date.

5. (e) Authorized unpaid absences after completion of the probationary period shall not, unless otherwise authorized by law, be counted toward:

   1. (1) Leave accrual; or
   2. (2) Increment date.
