A pilot who has been absent from the pilotage area for more than 180 days with the permission of the authority shall notify the authority in writing of the pilot’s intention to return to the pilotage area, including the proposed date of return, and shall make as many trips under the supervision of a pilot as the authority determines are necessary to refamiliarize the pilot with the pilotage area.
