The 60 semester hour degree in mental health counseling shall include coursework consisting of at least 33 semester hours consisting of 3 hours in each of the following 11 areas:
- (a) Human growth and development;
- (b) Abnormal psychology/psychopathology;
- (c) Clinical counseling theories;
- (d) Clinical counseling techniques;
- (e) Social and cultural foundations;
- (f) Group work;
- (g) Professional orientation and ethics of mental health counseling;
- (h) Career and lifestyle development;
- (i) Testing and assessment;
- (j) Research and program evaluation; and
- (k) Addictive behaviors.
