The qualification for certification as a water treatment technician shall be:

1. (a) Successful completion of a water treatment technician educational program described in Mec 805;
2. (b) Successful completion of the examination as described in Mec 805;
3. (c) Good character and professional competence as evidence by the documents required by Mec 804.03;

4. (d) Having:

   1. (1) Worked as a water treatment technician trainee for at least one year and have taken and passed the examination described in Mec 805;
   2. (2) Having operated as a water treatment technician for at least one year as a certified water treatment technician in another state; or
   3. (3) Having operated as a water treatment technician for at least one year prior to January 1, 2024.
