1. (a) In accordance with He‑P 4030, each existing license shall not expire until final license renewal is completed by DHHS/RHS.

2. (b) With respect to possession of radioactive material and residual radioactive contamination, each specific license continues in effect beyond the expiration date until DHHS/RHS notifies the licensee in writing that the license is terminated, even if:

   1. (1) The licensee decides not to renew the license;
   2. (2) No application for license renewal is submitted;
   3. (3) An application for renewal is denied; or
   4. (4) DHHS/RHS modifies or suspends the license.

3. (c) After the expiration date specified in the license, each licensee to which (b) above applies and who possesses radioactive material, including residual radioactive material, shall:

   1. (1) Limit actions involving radioactive material to those related to decommissioning; and
   2. (2) Continue to control entry to restricted areas until they are suitable for release in accordance with DHHS/RHS requirements.
