River Herring

- (a) No person shall take river herring, alewives (Alosa pseudoharengus) or bluebacks (Alosa aestivalis), by any method from the waters of the state between sunrise Wednesday and sunrise Thursday of any week.
- (b) Any trap or weir used in the waters of the state during the period specified in paragraph (a) above shall be constructed so as to allow total escapement of all river herring.
- (c) Any river herring taken by any method during the period specified in paragraph (a) above shall be immediately released back into the waters from which it was taken.
