- (a) The owner of a PWS using surface water or groundwater under the direct influence of surface water that is not subject to the filtration requirements in Env-Dw 716 shall collect at least one total coliform sample at or before the first service connection each day the turbidity level of the source water, measured as specified in 40 CFR 141.22, exceeds one Nephelometric Turbidity Unit (NTU).
- (b) The sample shall be analyzed for turbidity and for the presence of total coliforms.
- (c) When one or more turbidity measurements in any day exceed one NTU, the PWS owner shall collect a total coliform sample within 24 hours of the first NTU exceedance. If the system cannot have the sample analyzed within 30 hours of collection, the owner shall contact the department.
