- (a) A water meter shall be installed on each incoming source line before the water enters the storage tank(s).
- (b) A pressure gauge shall be provided on the discharge line of the well pump prior to the check valve and on the finished water line entering distribution after storage gauges shall be installed with gauge cocks for isolation and of suitable range for the expected pressure range.
- (c) All well and booster pump controls shall have a manual “off/on/auto” switch to control pump operations where water is pumped into a vented tank or the equivalent. Where the water is pumped into a pressure system, a pressure relief valve or spring-loaded “on” switch shall be provided.
- (d) Air compressors, if needed as part of the system design shall be of the oil-less type.
- (e) Mercury-type float switches shall be prohibited and, if present, shall be removed and replaced.
- (f) Pump run time meters shall be installed on all pumps, including, but not limited to, well pumps and booster pumps.
- (g) All lubricants for motors, pumps, and other mechanical equipment that comes into contact with potable water shall be of food grade oils.
- (h) If the design flow is equal to or greater than 20,000 gpd, water meters shall be installed to continuously measure the flow from each source independently. Said meters shall be maintained in accordance with the standards of the AWWA as required by Env-Dw 402. Data from said meters shall be recorded such that the operator can periodically access and save the data for tracking purposes. For each source, the monthly volume of withdrawal and the 24-hour maximum volume for each month shall be recorded and reported to the department in accordance with Env-Wq 2102.
- (i) The water system shall be capable of receiving an immediate addition of a disinfectant.
(j) Components of the system required by (i) above, shall include:
- (1) An injection tap on source water feed lines, before all water storage tanks; and
- (2) An electrical outlet interconnected with the source pump electrical system.
