- (a) No well installed after June 4, 1997 shall be placed inside a pumphouse or building being served by the water system.
- (b) Well casings shall project at least 18 inches above finished grade and shall terminate at or above the flood hazard elevation determined pursuant to Env-Dw 405.06(b).
- (c) For existing wells vault below finished grade or other structure where the floor is below finished grade, the well casing shall extend above the finished floor at least 24 inches and comply with all construction requirements of We 602.35.
- (d) Where existing wells are installed inside a vault below finished grade or other structure where the floor is below finished grade, a screened gravity drain line shall be installed that discharges to daylight and drains during the 100-year flood.
- (e) A tight seal shall be provided around all entry ports into the well, except the well cap shall be vented and screened in accordance with We 600.
- (f) Provisions shall be made to allow the removal of the well pump for repair.
- (g) All well sources shall be capable of being separately sampled for water quality at a source sample tap. A check valve shall be located downstream of all source sample taps before entering storage tank(s), treatment systems, or distribution. Sample taps shall have a smooth outlet nozzle at least 18 inches above ground and shall be clearly labeled with the corresponding source ID number.
- (h) Wells shall have an appropriately-sized stilling tube or alternative provisions for electronic drawdown probes permanently installed in the well so as to allow determination of the static and drawdown water levels. Existing wells shall conform with this requirement when the well pump is replaced or when well pump repair work is next done.
- (i) Well pumps shall be sized to operate during normal operations at or near their best efficiency point as stated in the manufacturer’s specifications.
- (j) All pump motors shall be premium efficiency motors as defined by ANSI/NEMA Standard MG-1-2021, “Motors and Generators”, 2021, available as noted in Appendix B.
