- (a) Within 90 days after the water system, or a portion thereof, is placed into service, record drawings shall be submitted to the department and to the operator showing precise horizontal dimensional measurements, depth of bury, material type, and nominal size of all buried water distribution piping and fittings, and service shut-offs, curb stops, taps, corporation stops at water mains, and piping, gate valves, blow-offs, hydrants, flushing devices, and utility crossings.
- (b) For purposes of this section, “precise dimensional measurements” means of sufficient accuracy to locate the piping or appurtenance to within 1 foot accuracy, recorded to the nearest 0.5 foot.
- (c) The owner shall maintain and update, as necessary, the water system’s record drawings and tie location records based on the best information available to the owner.
- (d) Flushing and chlorination of the water distribution piping system shall be completed as specified in (e) and (f) below before use.
- (e) Before the inspection of the water system by the department as required by Env-Dw 404.07, the entire water system, distribution pipes, storage tanks, and pumps shall be flushed to remove any dirt or other contaminants, and then chlorinated in accordance with the appropriate AWWA specification, as specified in Env-Dw 402.
- (f) Upon completion of the disinfection, the system shall then be flushed again until chlorine residual is less than 0.1 milligrams per liter, and a water sample shall be taken from the end of the distribution system and analyzed for bacterial quality by a laboratory accredited for such test by the New Hampshire environmental laboratory accreditation program.
- (g) The owner shall perform a leakage test of the piping system before system use. The distribution system shall be checked for leakage in accordance with the appropriate AWWA standard, as specified in Env-Dw 402. Leakage shall not exceed the value given in the appropriate AWWA standard.
