- (a) All pipes, pipe or plumbing fittings or fixtures, backflow preventers, solder, and flux used in or on drinking water plumbing shall be lead free as defined in 40 CFR 143.12, 7-1-24 edition.
(b) This section shall not apply to leaded joints necessary for the repair of cast iron pipes but shall otherwise apply to the installation or repair of:
- (1) Any public water system; and
- (2) Any plumbing in a residential or non-residential facility providing water for human consumption which is connected to a public water system.
- (c) As provided by the federal Safe Drinking Water Amendments of 1986 and 40 CFR 143.13 the requirements of (a) above, shall apply notwithstanding any contrary provision in the state or local plumbing codes or the rules of the state board for the licensing and regulation of plumbers.
