1. (a) The board shall grant up to a 30-day extension of time to schedule a hearing pursuant to RSA 357-D:4, IV if a party demonstrates exigent circumstances.

2. (b) Exigent circumstances shall include:

   1. (1) Hospitalization;
   2. (2) Serious illness;
   3. (3) Incarceration;
   4. (4) Death of a family member; or
   5. (5) Any other unforeseeable circumstances beyond the party’s control that requires the party’s absence from the scheduled hearing.

3. (c) All requests for continuances shall:

   1. (1) Be in writing;
   2. (2) Be received by the board no later than 5 working days prior to the date of the scheduled hearing; and

   3. (3) Include:

      1. a. The reason for the request; and
      2. b. Optional dates when the party shall be available.
