N.D. Admin. Code § 24.1-06-05-01
24.1-06-05-01. (NEC 500) Hazardous locations.
1. Classification of hazardous locations is required to be completed by owner, representative, or engineer that has the qualifications and shall provide documentation as required by the provisions of article 500.4, 2026 edition, National Electrical Code (first version, printed in 2025), including the reference standards as listed in article 500.4, 2026 edition, National Electrical Code (first version, printed in 2025).
2. For classifications of oilfield installations refer to API RP 500, Classification of Locations for Electrical Installations at Petroleum Facilities, fourth edition, June 8, 2023.
3. Surge arrestors must be provided for all services in grain elevators.
4. Hot bearing or other similar detection systems must be installed in accordance with articles 500-516, 2026 edition, National Electrical Code (first version, printed in 2025).
