Notary applicants for initial appointment who are licensed members of the North Carolina State Bar shall:

1. (1) maintain a personal copy of the most recent notary public manual approved by the Department; and

2. (2) either:

   1. (a) submit a completed notarial commission application form described in 18 NCAC 07B .0407 without any of the following being required:

      1. (i) attending the notary course;
      2. (ii) passing the notary course exam; and
      3. (iii) obtaining a signature from a notary instructor; or
   2. (b) comply with the rules in this Subchapter for an individual who is not a licensed member of the State Bar.
