1. (a) Air Medical Programs using rotary-wing aircraft shall document that the program has:

   1. (1) medical crew members that have all completed training regarding:

      1. (A) altitude physiology; and
      2. (B) the operation of the EMS communications system used in the program;
   2. (2) written policies and procedures for transporting patients to designated facilities when diversion or bypass plans are activated;
   3. (3) written policies and procedures specifying how EMS Systems will dispatch and utilize aircraft operated by the program;
   4. (4) written triage protocols for trauma, stroke, STEMI, burn, and pediatric patients reviewed and approved by the OEMS Medical Director;
   5. (5) written policies and procedures specifying how EMS Systems will receive the Specialty Care Transport Services offered under the program when the aircraft are unavailable for service; and
   6. (6) written policies and procedures specifying how mutual aid assistance will be obtained from both in-state and bordering out-of-state air medical programs.
2. (b) All patient response, re-positioning, and mission flight legs shall be conducted under FAA part 135 regulations.
