1. (1) A detention center administrator or staff member commits the offense of inmate endangerment if the administrator or staff member knowingly:

   1. (a) places or keeps a juvenile with adult inmates;
   2. (b) uses corporal punishment against an inmate; or

   3. (c) uses physical force against an inmate, except as necessary for:

      1. (i) self-defense;
      2. (ii) control of inmates;
      3. (iii) protection of another person from imminent physical attack; or
      4. (iv) prevention of riot or escape.
2. (2) A person who commits the offense of inmate endangerment shall be fined an amount not to exceed $500.
