- (1) Each permanent employee of the school who works with deaf children or works for or with a fellow employee who is deaf shall acquire acceptable total communications skills as prescribed by the board of public education by the end of the first year of employment.
- (2) Upon request to the board of public education by the superintendent, an exception to this requirement may be made for an employee not working directly with deaf children.
