- (1) The breach of an earth dam must be excavated down to the level of the natural ground and be able to pass the 100-year, 24-hour flood at a depth and velocity equivalent to the natural channel. However, the maximum width required may be the total removal of the dam.
- (2) The sides of the breach must be excavated to a slope that is stable and consistent with the natural angle of repose of adjacent material abutting the dam or as determined by the engineer.
