1. (1) The content areas covered by the arts standards include:

   1. (a) visual arts;
   2. (b) media arts;
   3. (c) theatre arts;
   4. (d) music; and
   5. (e) dance.
2. (2) When a district incorporates or integrates arts content into district curriculum or offers an elective course in the arts, the following content standards apply.

3. (3) At each grade level a student will be able to:

   1. (a) generate and conceptualize artistic ideas and work;
   2. (b) organize and develop artistic ideas and work;
   3. (c) refine and complete artistic work;
   4. (d) select, analyze, and interpret artistic work for presentation;
   5. (e) develop and refine artistic techniques and work for presentation;
   6. (f) convey meaning through the presentation of artistic work;
   7. (g) perceive and analyze artistic work;
   8. (h) construct meaningful interpretations of artistic works;
   9. (i) apply criteria to evaluate artistic work;
   10. (j) synthesize and relate knowledge and personal experiences to create art; and
   11. (k) relate artistic ideas and works with societal, cultural, and historical context to deepen understanding, including traditional and contemporary artistic ideas and works by American Indians.
