Critical Care Paramedic

Facility Requirements
10.3.1
The programs must meet the same operational and record keeping standards
10.3.2
The critical care paramedic curriculum must be approved and follow
10.3.3
The program shall consist of, at minimum, three components: didactic
10.3.4
Faculty must be presented with the program's educational objectives for use
10.4.1
Certified as a Mississippi Paramedic;
10.4.2
No less than three years’ experience as a nationally registered paramedic
10.4.3
Other licensed healthcare providers may be admitted on a case-by-case basis
10.5.1
Must be currently certified as a Mississippi Paramedic in good standing
10.5.2
Completion of BEMS approved Critical Care Paramedic training program
10.5.3
Must successfully complete International Board of Specialty Certifications
10.5.4
Must possess at a minimum an associate’s degree from a regionally accredited
10.5.5
Must demonstrate proof of continuing education requirements as defined by this
10.6.1
Must submit an application and fees to BEMS for certification and provide
10.6.2
Critical care paramedic shall expire with the EMT-Paramedic certification
10.6.3
Reciprocity for Critical Care Paramedic Certification
10.7.1
Continuing Education (CE) hours should have a clear and direct application to
10.7.2
Fifty Hours of critical care continuing education hours Bi-Annually
10.7.3
The EMS agency’s off-line medical director shall sign off on each critical
10.8.1
Fraud or any misstatement of fact in the procurement of any certifications or
10.8.2
Gross negligence
10.8.3
Repeated negligent acts
10.8.4
Incompetence
10.8.5
Disturbing the peace while on duty
10.8.6
Recklessly disregarding the speed regulations prescribed by law while on duty
10.8.7
Failure to maintain current registration by the National Registry of EMTs
10.8.8
Failure to maintain all current Critical Care training standards as required by
10.8.9
The commission of any fraudulent dishonest, or corrupt act which is
10.8.10
Conviction of any crime which is directly related to the qualification, functions,
10.8.11
Violating or attempting to violate directly or indirectly, or assisting in or
10.8.12
Violating or attempting to violate any federal or state statute or regulation which
10.8.13
Addiction to, excessive use of, or misuse of, alcoholic beverages, narcotics,
10.8.14
Functioning outside the supervision of medical control in the field care
10.8.15
Permitting, aiding, or abetting an unlicensed or uncertified person to perform
10.8.16
Suspension or revocation of any BEMS issued certification may affect other
10.8.17
Failure to comply with the requirements of a Mississippi EMS scholarship
10.8.18
Failure to comply with an employer’s request for drug and alcohol testing
10.8.19
Failure to wear high visibility safety apparel that meets the requirements of the
10.8.20
Any conduct, regardless of whether convicted, which constitutes a crime of
10.8.21
If the Bureau finds that public health, safety, and welfare requires emergency
10.9.1
The Scope of Practice for the Mississippi Critical Care Paramedic is defined in
10.9.2
Occupation:
10.10.1
Must submit an application and fees to BEMS for modification of the license by
10.10.2
Provide proof of current certification (FP-C or CCP-C); and,
10.10.3
Proof of completion of BEMS Approved CE Hours;
10.10.4
Proof of completion of BEMS Approved 24 hour Critical Care Bi-Annual
10.10.5
Statewide or Jurisdictional Medical Control Agreement
