Any person subject to sections 40.005 to 40.490 is a "principal" who:

1. (1) Commits an offense punishable by sections 40.005 to 40.490, or aids, abets, counsels, commands, or procures its commission; or
2. (2) Causes an act to be done which if directly performed by the person would be punishable by sections 40.005 to 40.490.
