The director of conservation may, in his discretion, issue permits to commercial fishermen licensed under the provisions of Act No. 84 of the Public Acts of 1929, as amended, to use in Munising bay of Lake Superior pound, trap and gill nets, as provided in subdivisions (d), (g), and (i) of section 5 of Act No. 84 of the Public Acts of 1929, as amended, for taking smelt and alewife.
