1. 1. Registration fee The annual registration fee for special equipment, based on gross weight, is $10 for equipment weighing one to 2,000 pounds; $15 for 2,001 to 5,000 pounds; and $20 for over 5,000 pounds. Registrations under this section may be issued for 2 years for a fee twice that of the annual registration fee.

2. 2. Exception Registration is not required when special equipment is used solely:

   1. A. On that part of a public way adjoining the premises of the owner; or

   2. B. For farm purposes, and public way use is limited to travel from or to:

      1. (1) The premises where the equipment is kept;
      2. (2) A farm lot and between farm lots used for farm purposes by the owner; or

      3. (3) A filling station or garage for fuel or repairs.
