SUMMARY: Vocational Education programs must be evaluated for compliance with Federal legislation. The evaluation requirements are set forth in this policy.
1. Compliance Criteria
- A. Each vocational education program will be evaluated once every five years.
- B. The Bureau of Vocational Education will develop a plan and schedule for each of the vocational education program evaluations.
- C. Evaluations for the VTI's will be those conducted by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges for member institutions.
- D. Evaluations of secondary vocational education programs may be those conducted by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges for member institutions. Additional instruments and procedures may be required by the State Board and Advisory Council.
- E. Evaluations of secondary vocational education programs may be conducted by other qualified agencies by contract with the local agency or the State Department.
- F. The instruments and procedures to be used for evaluation of of vocational education programs will be approved by the State Board of Education and the Maine Advisory Council on Vocational Education and will be used as a basis for continued program approval by the State Board.
- G. The State Board, the Maine Advisory Council, and the Bureau of Vocational Education will be invited to participate, ex officio, in the evaluation of any vocational education programs.
