Use of the State Used Tire Clean-up and Recycling Fund.

- A. Authorization. There is a State Used Tire Clean-up and Recycling Fund (the Fund) as established in Environment Article, §9-273, Annotated Code of Maryland.
- B. Allocation of the Fund. The Department shall use the Fund in accordance with the provisions of Environment Article,
§§9-275, 9-277, and 9-278, Annotated Code of Maryland. C. Procedures for Allocation of the Fund for the Scrap Tire Recycling System.
(1) The Service shall submit to the Department a request for financial assistance for:
- (a) Projects within the scrap tire recycling system to reduce, recover, and recycle scrap tires that are approved by the Department; and
(b) Costs related to the implementation of scrap tire recycling systems including the cost of:
- (i) Preparation of a scrap tire recycling system under Environment Article, §9-228(e), Annotated Code of Maryland,
- (ii) Implementation of any program established by the Service as a part of a scrap tire recycling system, and
- (iii) Providing assistance in funding the establishment of a private or public scrap tire collection, processing, or recycling facility.
- (2) The Department shall accept expense estimates, cost justifications, and other information specified by the Department as a means of evaluating the request for financial assistance.
