“Qualifying leave of absence” means a leave of absence for a period not exceeding 2 years which is approved by a member's employer for one of the following reasons:

1. A. Personal illness;
2. B. Birth of a child;
3. C. Study;
4. D. Temporary assignment with another governmental employer; or
5. E. Legal adoption of a child.

Effective January 1, 1996, all of Title 22 was repealed and completely new regulations adopted. Codification and organization of the title were also completely changed.
