1. A. In this chapter, the following terms have the meanings indicated.

2. B. Terms Defined.

   1. (1) “Abortion” means spontaneous or induced termination of pregnancy.
   2. (2) “Inmate” means an eligible person, as defined in COMAR 12.12.01.03B(9).
   3. (3) “Involuntary admission” means admission of an inmate to a psychiatric hospital, as defined under Health-General Article, §§10-613—10-617, Annotated Code of Maryland.
   4. (4) “Postnatal care” means the necessary intervention affording health care and support that is provided to the infant immediately after birth.
   5. (5) “Postpartum care” means the necessary intervention affording health care and support to a woman who has recently given birth.
   6. (6) “Pregnancy” means the gestational process of growth and development within the woman of a new individual, from conception through the embryonic and fetal periods to birth.
   7. (7) “Prenatal care” means the necessary intervention affording health care to both the woman and to the fetus during pregnancy and before birth.
   8. (8) “Terminal” means ending in death.
