1. A. A correctional unit shall ensure that correctional officers or agents assigned a BWC receive proper training on BWC use and operation pursuant to these regulations, manufacturer’s guidelines and all applicable laws and policies prior to using a BWC.

2. B. BWC training shall include, but is not limited to the following topics:

   1. (1) Agency BWC policy;
   2. (2) Proper placement of camera;
   3. (3) When recording is mandatory, prohibited, and discretionary;
   4. (4) When recording notification and consent is required;
   5. (5) Secure storage, access, review and confidentiality of recordings;
   6. (6) Retention, dissemination and release of recordings;
   7. (7) Specific protections for reasonable expectation of privacy;
   8. (8) Interactions with members of the public;
   9. (9) Buffering mode; and
   10. (10) Equipment operation, care and maintenance.
3. C. Video and audio recordings from BWCs used for training purposes shall be separately tagged from recordings of official daily operations as described in Regulation .11 of this chapter.
